This collection covers the life of Flora Dungan beginning with her high school and university years, through her early community and political involvement, her professional work as a public accountant, and ends with her legislative and regent careers. The Personal and business series includes high school reports prepared by Dungan, her yearbook and some report cards. Her high school and university degrees and honors are also included. Other materials in this series include her business papers while practicing as a public accountant, papers pertaining to her personal finances, investments, and personal life, including her divorces, illness, and death. The Community activities series covers the period 1957-1974 and contains materials about organizations and interests of Dungan and her husband, Ray ben David. The Legislative series spans Dungan's election campaigns and includes much material on the issues she addressed during her terms as Assemblyman. The major issues are legislative reapportionment and prison reform. The Regent series covers the period from her campaign until her death in 1973 and consists mainly of files pertaining to University issues in which she took a particular interest.

Flora Dungan moved to Las Vegas from California in 1948 and began practice as a public accountant. She participated in many community organizations and became active in Democratic party politics. In 1962 she was elected to the State Assembly. In 1964 she filed a lawsuit pertaining to legislative reapportionment which led to a special session of the legislature in 1965. The special session resulted in reapportionment of the Nevada Legislature, giving Clark County eleven additional seats. In 1967 ...
